Code of Conduct and Standard Practices For Agency Members
* Standard Practices Concerning Families
A Placement Agency agrees to:
1. Interview candidates for placement personally of through a designated representative, unless the employer is otherwise informed.
2. Check candidates’ reference and rovide the employer with full and accurate information about a candidate’s qualification, employment record and reference, taking into account the Human Rights Code.
3. Ensure that prior to placement, employers are informed about all financial information such as agency placement fee and refund & / or replacement policy.
4. Make adjustments, replacements, or refunds promptly and in accordance with the written policies of the agency.
5. Provide assistance in developing a legal, fair and reasonable work agreement between the family and the candidate. Remain available to help both parties in a consultative role.
* Standard Practices Concerning Nannies
A Placement Agency agrees to:
1. Recruit nannies for valid job positions only.
2. Advertise accurately and truthfully
3. Describe all duties and responsibilities, length of employment of contract, hours, salary and benefits, to the best of the agency’s knowledge.
4. Help to develop a legal, fair and reasonable work agreement between the family and nanny. Remain available to help both parties in a consultative role.
* Standard Practices Between Agencies
A Placement Agency agrees to:
1. Refrain from contacting nannies placed by other agencies before their commitment to family is satisfied, unless such contact is initiated by the nanny her/himself, or the employer.
2. Respect the properietary of promotional materials of other agencies.
3. Respect the Coalition Code of Conduct and Standards and to bring any violations by their members to attention of the Coalition Ethics Comittee.
4. Refrain from demeaning criticism of other agencies.
* Standard Practices – General
Member agencies will comply with all applicable laws. This includes, but is not limited to licensing requirements, as per their provincial legislation, employment standards, and the Human Rights Code.
